History

The Finnish Foundation for Cardiovascular Research supports scientific research into cardiovascular diseases, and the publication of results from such research, with the aim of preventing these diseases, developing their treatment further and improving the quality of life of those suffering from such diseases.

During the years of the Foundation’s activities, healthier lifestyles and treatment improved as a result of scientific research have decreased cardiovascular mortality among working- age men and women by 77% and 79%, respectively. Nevertheless, cardiovascular disease continues to be the most common health problem in Finland.
